Toss the Tube! Scott Naturals Tube-Free Review

November 27, 2014 at 5:18 pm (Uncategorized)

First of all – Have you joined Crowdtap?! You should!

Through Crowdtap I was given a free sample of Scott Naturals Tube-Free toilet paper.

IMG_3081 IMG_3082

That is what the package looks like. It’s pretty simple and GREEN! I love the design! Also, on the back is some box tops if you collect those. So you probably can’t see what a roll of toilet paper without a tube actually looks like. Let me fix that!

It was about what I expected. It’s awesome. I really enjoyed not having to pull a tube off, put a new roll on, and all that. I know, I’m incredibly lazy, but it was nice not having those extra steps!

The quality of the toilet paper was really good too- without going into too much detail. The paper over all is sturdy and soft- not like sandpaper. My only issue was that it was 1 ply, so if that’s a problem for you.. you’ve been warned. Even with being a 2ply kinda girl, I really liked this toilet paper! I would totally recommend it to anyone looking to go green and switch toilet paper brands.

If you’d like more information on this product, Go here.

Disclaimer- I was given a free 4 pack of Scott Naturals Tube Free toilet paper through Crowdtap. My opinion was not swayed by free toilet paper. The photos above are my own.

Zep: Clean like a Pro! Product Review

November 17, 2014 at 12:01 pm (Shopping)

I was super lucky and was given a chance to sample some of Zep’s cleaning products- through Crowdtap. First off, have you joined Crowdtap? It’s amazing and you should! I received 3 bottles of Zep Quick Clean Disinfectant and 2 bottles of Zep All-Around Oxy Cleaner and Degreaser.

I really like Zep, and I’ll show you why in minute. A problem that I personally have with cleaners is skin allergies and very frequently just can’t do it because my skin reacts very angrily. I had no issues with Zep. I think the product worked really well and stood up to messes that my 4 year old daughter and 8 year old niece made. Tip, when the kids ask if they can color with their markers, make sure they aren’t drawing with sharpies! If you neglect to make sure “markers” mean only markers and not Sharpies, well, Zep can fix that! Here is the counter where the “markers” that were actually SHARPIES leaked through paper and onto my counters!

So, when messes like this happen just spray some Zep on it and leave it sit for a minute!

Here it is, waiting for Zep to work it’s magic! After about a minute, wipe it off, and rinse with some water.

Viola! My counter is kid-oops free! YAY!

Now for the stove! We actually bought our stove/oven used, and it was fairly clean- oven was spotless, but the stove part was NOT, and ALL the burns all have this big black ring around them. We have never been able to get it off. I knew this review was coming up, so I purposely just didn’t clean the stove. We cooked, spilled, and momentarily didn’t care, because it was in the name of Zep testing! Here’s the nasty mess we made of our stove!

After 2 tries with Zep, this is the end result. I think it looks pretty good- I didn’t get a shot of what the stove looked like when we bought it, if I had, you’d know this is about as good as it gets.

Not shown, are the before and after results of using the disinfecting sprays. I looove them, I use them on our door knobs, light switches and alllll over the bathroom!

Overall, I really like these products. I’m not sure about the stove- Zep worked about as well as every other brand we’ve used. Zep worked A LOT better at removing all that Sharpie off the counter, which was REALLLY awesome. It didn’t leave a residue or a gross feeling on the counter it was really clean afterwards and best of all- no black sharpie dots!

Product Review: Sweet’n’Low The Sweeter The Better!

October 3, 2014 at 9:19 am (Uncategorized)

First off, have you joined Crowdtap? Hmmm?! Go do it! I’ll link in the bottom! 😀

I was recently chosen by Crowdtap to participate in a party, The Sweeter, The Better! I was gifted a box of Sweet’n’Low (YAY!), Some sample packs of Sweet’n’Low (which I gave to my party participants), a Sweet’n’Low Pitcher and Measuring cup, some cups and some pretty pink napkins! I was asked to throw a party with my gal-pals and make some “skinny” drinks. Most of us are moms. We couldn’t figure out what drinks to make because we wanted to make the most of our Sweet’n’Low. Then it hit us! We’ll make something for the entire family, and then make our drinks from that! So we did the only thing we could think of. We made Kool-aid!

We made two kinds- Fruit Punch and Mixed Berry. We took the Kool-aid and mixed it with some vodka. We didn’t get real inventive, but it was tons of fun.

We really liked the Sweet’n’Low. Normally to make Kool-aid, I use regular sugar. I was blown away at how little Sweet’n’Low I really needed to make anything. It was really easy to use, and I couldn’t tell the difference between the Sweet’n’Low and real sugar.

I’m really excited having had been chosen for this sample and share because I think I’ll make the switch to Sweet’n’Low instead of using real sugar! It was super easy, tasted great and for me, was a great “skinny” alternative to regular sugar. We had tons of fun with our “skinny” drinks, and girl’s night. 😀

If you’d like to read more about the Sweet’n’Low product, go HERE to their website and check it out!

If you have not joined Crowdtap yet, and you want to, GO HERE to sign up.

Disclaimer: All of the opinions above are my own. The photos are my own. I was given this product for free to try but the opinions above are still my own and were not swayed by free Sweet’n’Low merchandise/product.

Kingsford #TailgateForOurTroops BBQ

September 10, 2014 at 5:59 am (Recipes, Uncategorized) (, , , , , , , )

I’m going to start this off with one question. Have you joined Crowdtap yet? Yes, this is going to be a thing. Just join so I can stop asking. haha.

Alright, down to brass tax. I was lucky enough to get into the Kingsford crowd for a #tailgateForOurTroops BBQ. It was amazing! We got a coupon for Kingsford charcoal- it’s the BEST. We’re a Charcoal family. So, this was incredibly awesome for us. A running joke- I got Husband a grilling multi-tool for our anniversary one year that says “Grill Master Matt” on it. This was right after he grilled me the most amazing “meatyback ribs”. I think the meatyback ribs are just a local grocer item, but if you can find them, don’t hesitate! They’re epic!

We threw a Kingsford BBQ for our family and friends complete with Kingsford charcoal and Kingsford lighter fluid for our grill! I had Husband make some beer brats, meatybacks, bison burgers and there were a few “Jamaica rub” chops. Yum! Included for our sides were curly fries (for meee!), some chips, I made a “veggie tray” which was just carrots and broccoli and some dill dip on a plate. One of our family members made a cake, and a friend made an awesome lemon pie!

Here’s the awesome Fire and Smoke book we got! It’s got TONS of awesome recipes! I added the link to the photo so if you’d like to check it out on Amazon, just click the photo! 😀

hSo, the grillmaster made some beer brats- they were very good! We didn’t have ANY leftovers! I was going to snap some photos of the meatyback ribs, but they were being eaten when I remembered I didn’t get a photo- boooooo.

Here’s the awesome #TailgateForOurTroops apron! It’s got a big pocket on the front too, which is a nice feature.

Beer brats all done!

My bison burger. YUUUM!

You can visit Kingsford’s website HERE. They have tons of products and info on all of them. They’ve also got some hilarious shirts like the one below- it’s also clickable. Their store is HERE, if you’d like to take a look. There are shirts, hoodies, an awesome shop jacket (which is my favorite), hats, other various accessories, and some grilling tools. Don’t take my word for it, go look!

And lastly, if you’d like to join Crowdtap and have not joined yet, Sign up!

Disclaimer: I was given- for free- a coupon for a bag of Kingsford charcoal, a paperback copy of Chris Lilly’s new cookbook: “Fire and Smoke”, and a #TailgateForOurTroops apron via Crowdtap. My opinions stated above are my own and not the product of free items. All pictures belong to me, with the exception of Chris Lilly’s book and the Kingsford shirt- which are present so you can go look at and/or buy the book, or the shirt if you’d like- They’re clickable.

Product Review: LISTERINE Naturals

September 3, 2014 at 11:27 pm (Uncategorized)

I think I’m getting better at this product review thing. So, before we start. Have you joined Crowdtap yet? If so, let me know down in the comments how much you totally love it, and if you haven’t… Why? Hmmmm?! Yes, I am making a face at you right now as I’m typing this. Join. Just, just do it. Ok? Ok.

So, Crowdtap had a LISTERINE Naturals Sample Party. It was fun. However, my “party” was, sort of lame. It was broken up into pieces and more of a partial get together- because of schedules, it still worked and I got some great feedback for this product.

First, This is what it looks like.

I’ll link to LISTERINE’s website at the bottom so you guys can check out the product info and ingredients. Now, down to business. This is LISTERINE’s new product. It’s free of dyes, sweeteners and artificial flavors (YAY!!!). Overall it’s a pretty solid LISTERINE product. Personally, I didn’t like it as much as I thought I would. I prefer the Cool Mint over the Naturals. My siblings and my husband LOVE this product. They liked the light mint flavor and, like other LISTERINE products, it does work amazingly. It gives that long-lasting fresh feeling- that’s something we can all enjoy!

For the party, I dug out our Transformers Shot Glasses. What better way to have a sample party than the Transformers shot glasses? I can only think of one better way- mustache shot glasses, but I found the Transformers ones first, and decided to stop digging through the cabinets for shot glasses we never use.

So, all in all, this is a pretty good product, even if I like Cool Mint better. I think we may switch to this one because Husband likes it so well. And as promised…

For information on LISTERINE Naturals click RIGHT HERE.

If you have not joined Crowdtap, Seriously… Click here.

If you have joined Crowdtap, leave a comment below and let me know how much you love it! I’d love to hear stories! And let me know if you’ve tried this product, and how you like it too!

Product Review: GNC Total Lean Lean Shake BURN

August 11, 2014 at 3:58 am (Shopping)

This product review thing is new for me. I promise I’ll be completely, 100% honest though. Which, I think some bloggers epicfail at. This entire post is my, very, honest opinion. I received a tub of GNC’s Total Lean Lean Shake BURN from Crowdtap to sample. Side note- if you are NOT part of crowdtap, WHY NOT? Join. Seriously. You’ll thank me, and be really happy, you just have to stick it out an entire month and you’ll see what I mean.

Chocolate Fudge

Back to the Lean Shake! I got this free from Crowdtap. Something I have not told many people, for the past 5 months, I have been actively trying to get healthy and lose weight. It’s been hard; doable, but hard. I’ve plateaued twice, and I finally understand when personal trainers and health nuts tell you that stress is a huge factor in losing weight. Also, who has time to sleep a solid 8 hours? Needless to say this lifestyle changing journey has been both hard and rewarding, I have not given up and don’t plan to. So, losing weight and hitting plateaus- Not my favorite thing. I’ve been pretty consistent with my exercising- I try new exercises, but exercise everyday with the exception of the one day I hurt my ankle and wanted to give a rest- I did yoga that day instead of aerobics. I’ve been eating better, but being a picky eater who hates more things than she likes, this has been difficult, but still doable!

Cookies & Cream

When crowdtap opened up the sample for this GNC shake, I hopped on board thinking “WOW! I need to try this!”, hoping I would be picked! I was, and I have tried this shake. I told myself before I even got it in the mail I would stick it out at least a full week- even if it tasted horrible, and the only way I’d give up is if it caused problems (like digestive issues, migraines or something along those lines). So, it’s been two weeks. In my first week I lost 4.9lbs. This is now week 2, and I’ve lost 3.7lbs- but I also went out to eat twice and got stuck working longer than normal, which involves sitting. Before trying this shake, I was plateaued for a month. The instructions are simple. Mix your shake, after you drink your shake, you wait 30 minutes and then get sweaty! Go exercise! It’s supposed to help you burn 3x as many calories too! I really liked the burning 3x as many calories part!

I did say I wouldn’t lie and I won’t. First, I will say that I do, really love this product so far. It has helped me lose weight, get over a plateau, and I feel like after I drink the shake, I can exercise for longer periods of time. The only 2 downsides to this shake are 1. It costs $59.99. For me, that’s pretty expensive for something that is just mine- not something the rest of the family would use. Inner penny-pinching mom voice there. 2. If you follow the container instructions… I won’t lie, it’s pretty bad tasting. The container says to mix 2 scoops of the powder with 8oz of water. I was not looking forward to the week I had planned on testing it. So, to fix that problem, I did some research! I found you can mix it with: yogurt (greek was most recommended), in a smoothie, mix it into a real shake, mix with skim or 1% milk, almond milk, soy milk or coconut milk. I chose whole milk and almond milk and with both, the bad taste was gone. It’s more like ovaltine or carnation instant if you use milk or almond milk. So, I think my mistake was, not reading ahead of time what to mix this shake with from other people who tried it, and only reading the container- which says to mix with water. Don’t mix it with water. I mean, you can, but… don’t do it. Go get some almond milk. It’s the BEST.

I’ve given some of this shake to my brother and sister, to my sibling in laws, and my spouse, they all agreed the taste was pretty bad, but not so bad they’d never drink it again, and it DOES work. I know this review sounds odd. How could something that started off tasting so bad, be so amazing? Because it actually works. I feel a lot more energetic when I work out. I don’t seem to wear out as soon as I used to during workouts before trying this shake, and I’ve gotten over my plateau. It comes in 2 flavors- Chocolate Fudge (which is the one I was given) and Cookies and Cream. I think if I bought this, I’d go for the Cookies and Cream over Chocolate Fudge. I like actual chocolate, but, when something says “chocolate flavored” I usually opt for the other choice. So, I’d go with cookies and cream next time, I think.

My Total Lean BURN shake!

My Total Lean BURN shake!

Here’s my shake in my plain, minimalist, black mug, and the container of the Total Lean BURN. If you’re looking for a protein shake, I suggest this one, and now that you know how many different options you have with mixing it, you’ll skip over the mistake I made! It really doesn’t taste bad with other liquids. Almond milk was my favorite. I suggest doing that! So, if you’re in the market for a protein shake, try GNC’s Total Lean Lean Shake BURN.

If you’d like more product information, you can go to GNC’s website, and check out this product RIGHT HERE.

If you are NOT part of Crowdtap and would like to be, you can sign up and join in the fun HERE.

Disclaimer: While I’ve stated before, this was a sample I received for free. The opinions above are definitely my own, honest, opinions and were not swayed by free sample items. Also note, the stock photos above are not mine (the one of the black mug is mine, though), they belong to GNC and not me. I used them purely so you, the reader, could see what the container looks like for both flavors, and know what it looks like if you were interested in buying this product.

Feature Friday: The Jewelry Dish

May 9, 2014 at 7:08 am (Feature Friday, Interviews) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

1. How’d you get started on Etsy?

I’ve always had an interest in running my own business. Even as a
young girl, I was always trying to make money and sell something. When
I was about 10 years old, I started making beaded necklaces and
selling them to other kids in the neighborhood. After thinking about
it for a while last year, I decided to go for it. My fiancé has been
very supportive and encouraging in my pursuit.

2. What was your inspiration for your shop?

Art Deco being one of my favorite styles of art, has definitely been
an inspiration since I began designing and selling on Etsy.

3. What’s your favorite shop item and why?

My favorite item is a pair of orange and brown flower earrings. The
bright orange flowers really pop against the brown beads. These
earrings remind me of Autumn (my favorite time of year).

4. How do you unwind when you’re not creating?

In the evenings and on weekends, I like to read, write, cook, and
spend time with my fiancé.

5. What’s your favorite kind of cupcake?

Without a doubt, my favorite cupcake is Red Velvet.

6. What was your worst job?

Possibly the current one I’m in. After I graduated college, I went to
graduate school for 2 years to become a high school teacher but with
the recession and scarce job market, it’s been tough landing a job. I
needed money so I took a job as a secretary.

7. What’s your favorite cartoon as a kid? As an adult, if you stumble
upon it while channel surfing now would you stop & watch?

I really enjoyed watching “Jem and the Holograms.” I liked Jem because
she was a talented and successful young woman. She also had these pink
star-shaped earrings that would allow her to change her image
instantly from Jerrica, a manager of a music company, to Jem, the lead
singer of a rock group. I would definitely watch now it if I saw it on

8. What’s your fantasy job?

My dream job is to be able to run my Etsy shop full time and open up a
quaint jewelry boutique somewhere near home in New York City.

9. Do you have a secret guilty pleasure? Reality TV.

10. List 3 things you are so obsessed with it is torture to ever say no to.

-Jeopardy (TV Show)

– Coffee

11. List 3 of your favorite Etsy shops.

-Love You A Latte Shop

-Thuja Shop

– Tommy Kane Shop

12. Do you have a favorite author? When you read, do you use a proper
bookmark, bend the page, or grab anything handy to mark your place? My
favorite contemporary author is Joyce Carol Oats and my favorite
classic author is Edgar Allan Poe. I rarely use a standard bookmark. I
read a lot on the subway and I often find myself using my Metrocard
which I have actually noticed other fellow New Yorkers do too!

13. If money was no object and you can live wherever you want, where
would that be? New York City (my current home), I can’t imagine living
anywhere else.

14. What is your best childhood memory?  On Sunday mornings, my father
and I used to walk to the bagel store to get breakfast for
everyone…it was our special time together.

15. How would you describe your work style?

My office day job keeps me very busy from early in the morning to the
late afternoon. I work in a hospital in Midtown Manhattan so things
are always happening. When I work on my Etsy shop in the evenings and
weekend, I work just as hard but with a more relaxed environment. I
like to listen to music, drink coffee and sit by the window while I
make jewelry and think of new ideas.

16. If you could choose any one superhero power, what would it be and
why? Time travel so I could experience the world in different eras.

17. Who are your heroes? Lori Greiner, an entrepreneur and inventor.
Donna Mahar, one of my professors from graduate school.

18. What would you do if you won the lottery?

I would open a jewelry boutique in New York City, travel Europe with
my fiancé and save the rest for a rainy day.

19. What was the last movie you watched? Was it good? I watched “Eyes
Wide Shut.” It was great to watch it again, a little older. I was a
teenager when the movie first came out in theaters.

20. If you knew what you know now, when you first opened your store,
what would you do differently? I think I would have spent more time on
my shop photos and perfecting that skill. Photographs are crucial to
selling successfully online.

You can find The Jewelry dish on ETSY, TWITTER, PINTEREST,  FACEBOOK, and her BLOG.

Thrifty Thursday: Cranberry Pyrex Bowl

October 17, 2013 at 3:16 am (Shopping)

I’ll just come out and say it. I LOVE to go thrift shopping. I love stores like GoodWill- my local store DAV is my FAVORITE. The employees are great, and never look at me funny if I buy 50 frames in one shopping spree. Ok, it wasn’t 50… it 15, but still. Normally, I’d expect some goofy looks. My cashier simply asked what I was planning to do with them, Am I crafty? Am I going to paint them and do some amazing, epic collage? No. I make fiber art. Oh, really? [insert 10 minute long discussion of what my fiber art is and looks like]. Yes. They’re pretty awesome.

Anyway. Every Saturday is Customer Appreciation Day. I get 20% off EVERYTHING. It’s awesome. I can buy my kiddo clothes, more frames, kitchen stuff, furniture, etc.. 20% off. I have to fight crowds on Saturday, but, who cares? Isn’t that part of the thrifting experience? Fighting crowds and landing that amazing deal on that special item? Yes, it is.

So, every Saturday, my sister and I clean all the crap out of her car, and go to DAV. Some weeks I haul the kiddo in too, but I kinda like having the extra space for all the “junk” I bring home. 🙂 Last week, I got this amazing cranberry colored Pyrex bowl. It’s HUGE- 4L. I wish I had the whole set, but I’ve never been one to have matching anything- except socks.

So… take a look! It was marked $3.45 and with the discount I paid…. $2.76!

No, this is not about a feeling of inner turmoil. I realize my taste in music is sporadic, chaotic, and is definitely alternative. Most of my favorite bands are practically unheard of or when I tell others who they are, I get an all too familiar response of “They’re still making music?”. Yes. Yes, they are. One of my favorite bands and has been for the last.. ohhh. 10 years. Smile Empty Soul. One of my favorite albums was titled Anxiety. What makes this particular album so special… it took YEARS for it to finally be released. From what I heard, the band was selling burned copies of the cd at their shows. I went through a ton of waiting and just plain annoyance to get it.

I used to listen to this album nearly every morning on my drive to school- yes, back in high school. I believe it was my junior and part of senior year. I even had a friend steal the cd out of my car- to which I had to get another copy.

I’ve never been able to make it to one of their shows, but I’ve always wanted to. Most of the problem was the age restrictions. Back in high school, my dad and I used to go to concerts fairly often. Smile Empty Soul never happened, though.

Anyway, I suggest checking out Smile Empty Soul, maybe a few off the Anxiety Album, but all their albums are good!

Here’s a photo of the album cover.
